General DescriptionThe DS96177 DifferentialBus Repeaterisa monolithic inte-
grated device designedfor one-way data communicationon
multipointbus transmission lines. This deviceis designedfor
balanced transmissionbusline applicationsand meetsEIA
Standard RS-485and RS-422A.The deviceis designedto
improvethe performanceofthe data communication over
longbus lines.The DS96177hasan active high Enable.
The DS96177 features positiveand negative current limiting
and TRI-STATE® outputsforthe receiverand driver.There-
ceiver features high input impedance, input hysteresisforin-
creased noise immunity,and input sensitivityof200 mVover common mode input voltage rangeof −12Vto +12V.The
driver features thermal shutdownfor protection from line
fault conditions. Thermal shutdownis designedto occurata
junction temperatureof approximately 160˚C. The driveris
designedto drive current loadsupto60mA maximum.
The DS96177is designedfor optimum performance when
usedon transmission buses employingthe DS96172 and
DS96174 differentialline drivers, DS96173 and DS96175
differentialline receivers,or DS96176 differentialbus trans-
ceivers.
