General DescriptionThe DS3695, DS3696,and DS3697are high speed differen-
tial TRI-STATE® bus/line transceivers/repeaters designedto
meetthe requirementsof EIAstandardRS485withextended
common mode range (+12Vto −7V),for multipoint data
transmission.
The driverand receiver outputs feature TRI-STATE capabil-
ity.The driver outputs remainin TRI-STATE overthe entire
common mode rangeof +12Vto −7V.Bus faultsthat cause
excessive power dissipation withinthe device triggera ther-
malshutdown circuit, which forcesthe driver outputs intothe
high impedance state. The DS3696 providesan outputpin (thermal shutdown) which reportsthe occurrenceofthe
thermal shutdownofthe device. Thisisan “open collector”
pinwithan internal10 kΩpull-up resistor. This allows theline
fault outputsof several devicestobe wire OR-ed.
BothACandDC specificationsare guaranteed overthe0˚C 70˚C temperature and 4.75Vto 5.25V supply voltage
range.
