General Description
The DS1631 seriesof dual peripheral drivers was designedbea universalsetof interface componentsfor CMOS
circuits.
Each circuit has CMOS compatible inputs with thresholds
that trackasa functionof VCC (approximately(/2 VCC).The
inputsare PNPs providingthe high impedance necessary
for interfacing with CMOS.
Outputs have high voltage capability, minimum breakdown
voltageis 56Vat250mA.
The outputsare Darlington connected transistors. Thisal-
lows high current operation (300mA max)atlow internal
VCC current levels since base driveforthe output transistor obtained fromthe loadin proportiontothe required load-
ing conditions. Thisis essentialin orderto minimize loadingthe CMOS logic supply.
Typical VCCe5V poweris28 mW with both outputsON.
VCC operating rangeis 4.5Vto 15V.
The circuit also features output transistor protectionifthe
VCC supplyislostby forcingthe outputintothe high impe-
dance OFF statewiththe same breakdown levelsas when
VCC was applied.
Pin-outsarethe sameasthe respective logic functions
foundinthe following popular seriesof circuits: DS75451,
DS75461. This feature allows direct conversionof present
systemstothe MM74C CMOS family and DS1631 series
circuits with great power savings.
The DS1631 seriesis also TTL compatibleat VCCe5V.
