General Description
The DS36276 FAILSAFE Multipoint Transceiveris designed
foruseon bi-directional differential busses.Itis compatible
withexisting TIA/EIA-485 transceivers,however,it offersan
additional featurenot supportedby standard transceivers.
The FAILSAFE feature guaranteesthe receiver outputtoa
known state whenthe Interfaceisinthe following condi-
tions: Floating Line,Idle Line(no active drivers),and Line
Fault conditions (openor short).The receiver outputisina
HIGH stateforthe following conditions: OPEN Inputs, Ter-
minated Inputs (50X),and SHORTED Inputs.
FAILSAFEisa highly desirable feature whenthe transceiv-
ers are used with Asynchronous Controllers suchas
UARTs.
