CMOS Quad TRI-STATE® Differential Line Driver
General DescriptionThe DS26C31isa quad differentialline driver designedfor
digital data transmission over balanced lines. The
DS26C31T meetsallthe requirementsof EIA standard
RS-422 while retainingthe low power characteristicsof
CMOS. The DS26C31Mis compatible with EIA standard
RS-422; however, one exceptionin test methodologyis
taken (Note8). This enablesthe constructionof serialand
terminal interfaces while maintaining minimal power con-
sumption.
The DS26C31 acceptsTTLor CMOS input levelsand trans-
lates theseto RS-422 output levels. Thispart uses special
output circuitrythat enablesthe driversto power down with-
out loading downthe bus. This devicehas enableanddis-
ablecircuitry commontoallfour drivers.The DS26C31ispin
compatibletothe AM26LS31andthe DS26LS31.
All inputsare protected against damagedueto electrostatic
dischargeby diodesto VCCand ground.
