General Description
The DS14C535is three driver,five receiver device which
conformsto EIA/TIA-232-E and CCITT (ITU-T) V.28 stan-
dard specifications. This device employsan internal DC-DC
converterto generatethe necessary output levels froma
a5V power supply.A SHUTDOWN (SD) mode reducesthe
supply currentto10mA maximum.IntheSD mode, one
receiveris active, allowing ring indicator(RI)tobe moni-
tored.PC Board space consumptionis minimizedbythe
availabilityof Shrink Small Outline Packaging (SSOP).
The DS14C535 providesa one-chip solutionforthe com-
mon 9-pin serial RS-232 interface between data terminal
and data circuit-terminating equipment.
This device allowsan easy migration pathtothe 3.3V
DS14C335.The packagesarethe same. The N/C pinson
the DS14C535arenot physically connectedtothe chip.
Board layoutforthe DS14C335will accommodate bothde-
vices.
This device’slow power requirement and small footprint
makesitan ideal choicefor Laptopand Notebook applica-
tions.
