General DescriptionThe DAC101S101isa full-featured, general purpose 10-bit
voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that can
operate froma single +2.7Vto 5.5V supply and consumes
just 175 µAof currentat 3.6 Volts. The on-chip output
amplifier allows rail-to-rail output swing and the three wire
serial interface operatesat clock ratesupto30 MHz overthe
specified supply voltage range andis compatible with stan-
dard SPI™, QSPI, MICROWIRE and DSP interfaces. Com-
petitive devices are limitedto20 MHz clock ratesat supply
voltagesin the 2.7Vto 3.6V range.
The supply voltagefor the DAC101S101 servesasits volt-
age reference, providingthe widest possible output dynamic
range.A power-on reset circuit ensures thatthe DAC output
powersupto zero volts and remains there until thereisa
valid writeto the device.A power-down feature reduces
power consumptionto less thana microWatt.
The low power consumption and small packagesof the
DAC101S101 makeitan excellent choicefor usein battery
operated equipment.
The DAC101S101isa direct replacementfor the AD5310
andis oneofa familyofpin compatible DACs, includingthe
8-bit DAC081S101 and the 12-bit DAC121S101. The
DAC101S101 operates over the extended industrial tem-
perature rangeof −40˚Cto +105˚C.
