General Description
The DAC1006/7/8are advanced CMOS/Si-Cr10-,9-and
8-bit accurate multiplying DACs whichare designedto inter-
facedirectlywiththe 8080, 8048, 8085, Z-80and otherpop-
ular microprocessors. These DACs appearasa memorylo-
cationoranI/O porttothemP andno interfacing logicis
needed.
These devices, combined withan external amplifier and
voltage reference,canbe usedas standard D/A converters;
and they are very attractivefor multiplying applications
(suchas digitally controlled gain blocks) since their linearity
erroris essentially independentofthe voltage reference.
They become equally attractivein audio signal processing
equipmentas audio gain controlsoras programmableat-
tenuators which marry high quality audio signal processing digitally based systems under microprocessor control.
Allof these DACsare double buffered. Theycan loadall10
bitsortwo 8-bit bytes andthe data formatisleft justified.
The analog sectionof these DACsis essentiallythe same thatofthe DAC1020.
The DAC1006 seriesarethe 10-bit membersofa familyof
microprocessor-compatible DAC’s (MICRO-DACTM’s).For
applications requiring other resolutions,the DAC0830 series bits)andthe DAC1208and DAC1230(12 bits)are avail-
able alternatives.
