General DescriptionThe DAC0800 series are monolithic 8-bit high-speed
current-output digital-to-analog converters (DAC) featuring
typical settling timesof100ns. When usedasa multiplying
DAC, monotonic performance overa40to1 referencecur-
rent rangeis possible. The DAC0800 series also features
highcompliance complementary current outputsto allowdif-
ferential output voltagesof20 Vp-pwith simple resistorloads shownin Figure1. The reference-to-full-scale current
matchingof better than±1 LSB eliminatesthe needfor
full-scale trimsin most applications whilethe nonlinearities better than ±0.1% over temperature minimizes systemer-
ror accumulations.
The noise immune inputsofthe DAC0800 serieswill accept
TTL levels withthe logic threshold pin, VLC, grounded.
ChangingtheVLC potentialwill allow direct interfaceto other
logic families. The performance and characteristicsofthe
deviceare essentially unchanged overthefull ±4.5Vto
±18V power supply range; power dissipationis only33mW
with ±5V supplies andis independentofthe logic input
states.
The DAC0800, DAC0802, DAC0800Cand DAC0802Carea
direct replacementforthe DAC-08, DAC-08A, DAC-08C,
and DAC-08H, respectively.
