General Description
The DAC0800 seriesare monolithic 8-bit high-speed cur-
rent-output digital-to-analog converters (DAC) featuring typi-
cal settling timesof 100ns. When usedasa multiplying
DAC, monotonic performance overa40to1 referencecur-
rent rangeis possible. The DAC0800 series also features
high compliance complementary current outputsto allow
differential output voltagesof20 Vp-p with simple resistor
loadsas shown inFigure1. The reference-to-full-scalecur-
rent matchingof better thang1 LSB eliminatesthe needfor
full-scale trimsin most applications whilethe nonlinearities better than g0.1% over temperature minimizes system
error accumulations.
The noise immune inputsofthe DAC0800 serieswill accept
TTL levels withthe logic threshold pin, VLC, grounded.
ChangingtheVLC potentialwill allow direct interfacetooth- logic families.The performanceand characteristicsofthe
deviceare essentially unchanged overthe fullg4.5Vto
g18V power supply range; power dissipationisonly33mW
with g5V supplies andis independentofthe logic input
states.
The DAC0800, DAC0802, DAC0800C, DAC0801C and
DAC0802Carea direct replacementforthe DAC-08, DAC-
08A, DAC-08C, DAC-08Eand DAC-08H, respectively.
