DescriptionThe ADS7887 deviceisa 10-bit, 1.25-MSPS, analog-
to-digital converter (ADC), and the ADS7888 devicea 8-bit, 1.25-MSPS ADC. These devices includea
capacitor-based SAR A/D converter with inherent
sample and hold. The serial interfacein each device controlledby the CS and SCLK signalsfor glueless
connections with microprocessors and DSPs. The
input signalis sampled with the falling edgeof CS,
and SCLKis used for conversion and serial data
output.
The devices operate froma wide supply range from
2.35Vto 5.25V. The low power consumptionof the
devices make them suitable for battery-powered
applications. The devices also includea power-
saving, power-down feature for when the devices are
operatedat lower conversion speeds.
The high levelof the digital inputto the deviceis not
limitedto device VDD. This means the digital input canas high as 5.25V when device supplyis 2.35V.
This featureis useful when digital signals are coming
from other circuit with different supply levels. Also this
relaxes restrictionon power-up sequencing.
The ADS7887 and ADS7888 are availablein 6-pin
SOT-23 and SC70 packages and are specified for
operation from –40°Cto 125°C.
