General Description usinga half-flash conversion technique, the 8-bit
ADC0820 CMOS A/D offersa 1.5μs conversion time and
dissipates only75 mWof power. The half-flash technique
consistsof32 comparators,a most significant 4-bit ADC and least significant 4-bit ADC.
The inputtothe ADC0820is tracked and heldbythe input
sampling circuitry eliminating the need for an external
sample-and-holdfor signals movingat less than 100 mV/μs.
For easeof interfaceto microprocessors,the ADC0820 has
been designedto appearasa memory locationorI/O port
without the needfor external interfacing logic.
