General DescriptionThe ADC08100isa low-power, 8-bit, monolithic analog-to-
digital converter withan on-chip track-and-hold circuit. Opti-
mizedfor low cost, low power, small size and easeof use,
this product operatesat conversion ratesof20 MSPSto
100 MSPS with outstanding dynamic performance overits
full operating range while consuming just1.3 mWper MHzof
clock frequency. That’s just 130 mWof powerat 100 MSPS.
Raisingthe PDpin putsthe ADC08100 intoa Power Down
mode whereit consumes just1 mW.
The unique architecture achieves 7.4 Effective Bits with MHz input frequency. The excellent DC andAC charac-
teristicsof this device, together withits low power consump-
tion and single +3V supply operation, makeit ideally suited
for many imaging and communications applications, includ-
ing usein portable equipment. Furthermore,the ADC08100 resistantto latch-up andthe outputsare short-circuit proof.
Thetop and bottomofthe ADC08100’s reference ladder are
availablefor connections, enablinga wide rangeof input
possibilities. The digital outputs are TTL/CMOS compatible
witha separate output power supplypinto support interfac-
ing with3Vor 2.5V logic.The digital inputs (CLK and PD)are
TTL/CMOS compatible.
The ADC08100is offeredina 24-lead plastic package
(TSSOP) andis specified over the industrial temperature
rangeof −40˚Cto +85˚C.An evaluation boardis availableto
assistinthe product evaluation process.
