Description and Introduction

CMOS, Complete 14-Bit, Sampling ADC with Three Data Output Formats The AD7871 is a 12-bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) manufactured by Analog Devices (AD). It features a maximum sampling rate of 100 kSPS (kilo samples per second) and operates with a single +5 V power supply. The device includes an on-chip track/hold amplifier, a 12-bit ADC, and a serial interface. It is designed for low-power applications, consuming typically 10 mW of power. The AD7871 is available in a 16-pin DIP (Dual Inline Package) and SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit) package. It is specified for operation over the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The ADC has a typical integral nonlinearity (INL) of ±1 LSB and a typical differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ±0.5 LSB. The device also includes a shutdown mode to reduce power consumption when not in use.
