Description and Introduction

Complete 12-Bit, 100 kHz, Sampling ADC (AD7870/AD7870A) The AD7870 is a 12-bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter (ADC) manufactured by Analog Devices (AD). It features a maximum sampling rate of 100 kSPS (kilo samples per second) and operates with a single +5 V power supply. The device includes an on-chip track/hold amplifier, a 12-bit DAC (digital-to-analog converter), and a successive approximation register (SAR). It also has a parallel interface for easy connection to microprocessors. The AD7870 is designed for applications requiring high-speed, high-accuracy data conversion, such as in data acquisition systems, digital signal processing, and industrial control systems. It is available in a 24-pin DIP (Dual In-line Package) and a 28-lead PLCC (Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier). The operating temperature range is typically -40°C to +85°C.
