ESD Protection Exceeds JESD22This 16-bit (dual-octal) noninverting bus transceiver uses two separate configurable power-supply rails. TheA
portis designedto trackVCCA.VCCA accepts any supply voltage from 1.4Vto 3.6V. TheB portis designedto
trackV CCB.V CCB accepts any supply voltage from 1.4Vto 3.6 V. This allows for universal low-voltage
bidirectional translation between anyof the 1.5-V, 1.8-V, 2.5-V, and 3.3-V voltage nodes.
The SN74AVCA164245is designed for asynchronous communication between data buses. The device transmits
data from theA busto theB bus or from theB busto theA bus, depending on the logic levelat the
direction-control (DIR) input. The output-enable (OE) input can be usedto disable the outputsso the buses are
effectively isolated.
The SN74AVCA164245is designedso that the control pins (1DIR, 2DIR, 1OE, and 2OE) are suppliedbyVCCA. ensure the high-impedance state during powerupor power down, OE should be tiedtoV CCA througha pullup
resistor; the minimum valueof the resistoris determinedby the current-sinking capabilityof the driver.
This deviceis fully specified for partial-power-down applications usingIoff. TheIoff circuitry disables the outputs,
preventing damaging current backflow through the device whenitis powered down.If eitherVCC inputisat GND,
then both ports arein the high-impedance state.
