Description and Introduction

High Power Factor Preregulator The UC3854DWTR is a high-performance power factor correction (PFC) controller manufactured by Texas Instruments (TI).

### **Specifications:**
- **Input Voltage Range:** Up to 600V (for sensing)
- **Operating Supply Voltage:** 15V to 35V
- **Switching Frequency:** Adjustable up to 250kHz
- **Output Drive Current:** 1.5A peak
- **Package:** SOIC-16 (DW)
- **Operating Temperature Range:** -40°C to +85°C
- **Control Method:** Average current mode control

### **Descriptions:**
The UC3854DWTR is designed for active power factor correction in AC/DC power supplies. It provides near-unity power factor by shaping the input current to follow the input voltage waveform. The IC integrates a multiplier, voltage amplifier, current amplifier, and oscillator to simplify PFC circuit design.

### **Features:**
- **Precision Reference:** 7.5V with ±1% accuracy
- **Low Distortion:** Ensures sinusoidal input current
- **Programmable Soft-Start:** Reduces inrush current
- **Overvoltage Protection:** Prevents output overvoltage
- **Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO):** Ensures proper startup
- **Zero-Current Detection:** Improves efficiency at light loads
- **Multiplier/Divider Circuit:** Optimizes power factor correction

This IC is commonly used in offline power supplies, industrial power systems, and LED drivers requiring high power factor correction.
