Description and Introduction

4096-Bit Serial EEPROM (MICROWIRE) # Introduction to the NM93C66 EEPROM

The NM93C66 is a serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) integrated circuit, designed for non-volatile data storage in embedded systems. With a capacity of 4K bits (organized as 256 x 16 or 512 x 8), it provides reliable storage for configuration settings, calibration data, and other critical parameters that must persist when power is removed.

This EEPROM operates via a simple 3-wire serial interface (CS, SK, and DI/DO), making it easy to integrate with microcontrollers and other digital systems. It supports both sequential and random read operations, as well as byte or word-level write and erase functions. The NM93C66 features a wide operating voltage range (typically 2.7V to 5.5V), ensuring compatibility with various logic levels.

Key characteristics include built-in write protection, a self-timed programming cycle, and low power consumption, making it suitable for battery-powered and energy-efficient applications. Common uses include automotive electronics, industrial controls, consumer devices, and IoT systems where small, persistent memory is essential.

The NM93C66 offers a cost-effective and reliable solution for applications requiring moderate-density non-volatile storage with minimal interface complexity.
