The MN74HC174 is a high-speed CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) hex D-type flip-flop integrated circuit (IC) designed for digital logic applications. As part of the 74HC series, it combines low power consumption with high-speed operation, making it suitable for a wide range of electronic systems, including data storage, signal synchronization, and sequential logic circuits.  

This IC features six independent D-type flip-flops with a common clock input and an asynchronous master reset function. Each flip-flop captures the data present at its D input upon a rising clock edge, storing it until the next clock transition. The master reset (MR) pin allows all outputs to be cleared to a low state simultaneously, providing immediate control over the stored data.  

Operating within a supply voltage range of 2V to 6V, the MN74HC174 is compatible with both TTL (Transistor-Transistor Logic) and CMOS logic levels, ensuring versatility in mixed-logic environments. Its high noise immunity and robust output drive capability enhance reliability in noisy or demanding applications.
