The TLV5614IYZisa quadruple, 12-bit, voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) witha flexible 4-wire
serial interface. The serial interface allows glueless interfaceto TMS320, SPI, QSPI, and Microwire serial ports.
The TLV5614IYZis programmed witha 16-bit serial word comprisedofa DAC address, individual DAC control
bits, anda 12-bit DAC value. The device has provisionfor two supplies: one digital supply for the serial interface
(via pins DVDD and DGND), and one for the DACs, reference buffers, and output buffers (via pins AVDD and
AGND). Each supplyis independentof the other, and can be any value between 2.7V and 5.5V. The dual
supplies allowa typical application where the DACis controlled viaa microprocessor operating ona 3V supply
(also usedon pins DVDD and DGND) with the DACs operatingona 5V supply.Of course, the digital and analog
supplies can alsobe tied together.
The resistor string output voltageis buffered bya 2x gain rail-to-rail output buffer. The buffer featuresa
Class-AB output stageto improve stability and reduce settling time.A rail-to-rail output stage anda power-down
mode makesit ideal for single voltage, battery-based applications. The DAC settling timeis programmable,
allowing the designerto optimize speed versus power dissipation. Settling timeis chosen by the control bits
within the 16-bit serial input string.A high-impedance bufferis integrated on the REFINAB and REFINCD reduce the need fora low source impedance driveto the terminal. REFINAB and REFINCD allowABto havea different reference voltage than DACsC andD.
