The TDA7391isa BRIDGE class AB audio power
amplifier specially intended for car radio High
Power applications.
The high power capability together with the possi-
bilityto operate eitherin DIFFERENTIAL INPUT
MODEor SINGLE ENDED INPUT MODE makes suitable for boosters and high end car radio
equipments.
The exclusive fully complementary output stage
and the internal fixed gain configuration drop the
external component count.
Theon board clipping detector allows easy imple-
mentationof gain compression systems.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Pin Function Description
2 INPUTS
The input stageisa high impedance type also capableof operationin single ended mode
with one inputcapacitively coupledto the signal GND. The impedance seenbythe
inverting and non inverting input pins mustbe matched.

The TDA7391is equippedwitha diagnostic circuitry ableto detect the clippingin the
Output Signal (distortion= 10%).
The CDpin (open collector) givesout low level signal during clipping.7 OUTPUTS
The output stageisa bridge type ableto drive loadsas lowas 3.2Ω. consistsof two classAB fully complementary PNP/NPN stages fully protected.railtorail output voltage swingis achieved without needof bootstrap capacitors. external compensationis necessary. GND Ground. STAND-BY
The device featuresa ST-BY functionwhich shuts downallthe internal bias supplies
whenthe ST-BYpinis low. ST-BYmode the amplifier sinksa small current(inthe rangeof few μA).
Whenthe ST-BYpin ishightheIC becomes fully operational. SYNC resistor (R2) hastobe connect betweenpin10 and GNDin orderto program the current
that flowsintheC3 capacitor (pin 11). The valuesofC3 andR2 determinethe time
requiredto bias the amplifier. MUTE Thepinwill havea capacitor (C3) tiedto GNDtosetthe MUTE/STAND-BY time.An
automatic Mute during turn on/offis providedto prevent noisy transients.
