The device providesa two-wire serial interface which allows digital controlof the modulation and bias currents,
eliminating the need for external components. Output waveform control,in the formof cross point control and
independent over- and undershoot capabilityon the rising and falling edgesis also availableto improve VCSEL
edge speeds and the optical eye diagram. An optional input equalizer can be used for equalizationof upto
300mm (12 inch)of microstripor stripline transmission lineon FR4 printed circuit boards.
The ONET8501V includesan integrated automatic power control (APC) loopas wellas circuitryto support laser
safety and transceiver management systems. The VCSEL driveris characterized for operation from –40°Cto
85°C ambient temperatures andis availableina small footprint 4mm× 4mm 20 pin RoHS compliant QFN
package.
