General Description
This 8-bit TRI-STATE shift/storageregister utilizesadvanced
silicon-gate CMOS technology. Along withthelow power
consumption and high noise immunityof standard CMOS
integrated circuits,it hasthe abilityto drive15 LS-TTL
loads. This circuit also features operating speeds compara-
bletothe equivalentlow power Schottky device.
The MM54HC299/MM74HC299 features multiplexedin-
puts/outputsto achievefull 8-bit data handlingina single
20-pin package.Duetothe large output drive capabilityand
TRI-STATE feature,this deviceis ideally suitedfor interfac-
ing withbus linesinabus oriented system.
Two function select inputsandtwo output control inputsare
usedto choosethe modeof operationas listedinthe func-
tion table. Synchronous parallel loadingis accomplishedby
taking bothfunction selectlinesS0and S1high. This places
the TRI-STATE outputsina high impedance state, which
permits data appliedtothe input/output linestobe clocked
intothe register. Readingoutofthe registercanbe done
whilethe outputsare enabledinany mode.A direct overrid-
ing CLEAR inputis providedto clearthe register whether
the outputsare enabledor disabled.
The 54HC/74HC logic familyis functionallyaswellas pinout
compatible withthe standard 54LS/74LS logic family.All
inputsare protected from damagedueto staticdischargeby
internal diode clampsto VCCand ground.
