Serial-Output, 250Ksps 12-Bit ADC with T/H and Refernce
General Description
The MAX176 is a complete analog-to-cf/l converter
(ADC) that achieves a 250k samples per second (ksps)
sampling rate by combining a fast track/hold (O 4ps max
acqr.rstion time), a 3.5115 ADC, and a burtd-zener volt-
age reference. The deVice also saves space with serial
interface and 8-pn DIPor 16-pin surface-mount so pack-
Supply and reference decoupling capacitors are the only
external components needed. The CLOCK input can be
driven from an external d1vided-down microprocessor
clock or from the sera(-Clocl; output of a microcontroller.
The MAX176 works with +5V and -121/ to -151/ supply
voltages (148mW typ power dissipation),
The MAX176'S 3-w1re serial interface works with general-
purpose serial-to-parallel converters, such as the
/4HC595, as well as with digital-sg) processors and
microcontrollers. Its 3-wire seriat interface is fully com-
patible with SPI, (0SPI and MicrowwerM interface stan
dards,
