1.0 General DescriptionThe LM93, hardware monitor, hasa two wire digital interface
compatible with SMBus 2.0. Usingan 8-bitΣΔ ADC, the
LM93 measures the temperatureof two remote diode con-
nected transistorsas wellasits own dieand16 powersupply
voltages.set fan speed,the LM93 has two PWM outputs that are
each controlledbyupto four temperature zones. The fan-
control algorithmis lookup table based. The LM93 includesa
digital filter that canbe invokedto smooth temperature read-
ingsfor better controlof fan speed. The LM93 has four
tachometer inputsto measure fan speed. Limit and status
registersforall measured values are included.
The LM93 builds uponthe functionalityof previous mother-
board management ASICs and uses someof the LM85’s
features (i.e. smart tachometer mode).It also adds measure-
ment and control supportfor dynamic Vccp monitoring and
PROCHOT.Itis designedto monitora dual processor Xeon
class motherboard witha minimumof external components.
