General DescriptionThe LM2734Z regulatorisa monolithic, high frequency,
PWM step-down DC/DC converter assembledina 6-pinThin
SOT23 and LLP non pull back package.It providesall the
active functionsto provide local DC/DC conversion with fast
transient response and accurate regulationin the smallest
possible PCB area.
Witha minimumof external components and online design
support through WEBENCH®™, the LM2734Zis easyto
use. The abilityto drive1A loads withan internal 300mΩ
NMOS switch using state-of-the-art 0.5µm BiCMOS technol-
ogy resultsin the best power density available. The world
class control circuitry allowsfor on-timesas lowas 13ns,
thus supporting exceptionally high frequency conversion
overthe entire3Vto 20V input operating range downto the
minimum output voltageof 0.8V. Switching frequencyis
internally setto 3MHz, allowing the useof extremely small
surface mount inductors and chip capacitors. Even though
the operating frequencyis very high, efficienciesupto 85%
are easyto achieve. External shutdownis included, featuring ultra-low stand-by currentof 30nA. The LM2734Z utilizes
current-mode control and internal compensationto provide
high-performance regulation overa wide rangeof operating
conditions. Additional features include internal soft-start cir-
cuitryto reduce inrush current, pulse-by-pulse current limit,
thermal shutdown, and output over-voltage protection.
