General DescriptionThe LM1876isa stereo audio amplifier capableof delivering
typically 20W per channelof continuous average output
power intoa4Ωor8Ω load with less than 0.1% THD+N.
Each amplifier hasan independent smooth transition fade-
in/out mute anda power conserving standby mode which
canbe controlledby external logic.
The performanceof the LM1876, utilizingits Self PeakIn-
stantaneous Temperature (˚Ke) (SPiKe™) protection cir-
cuitry, placesitina class above discrete and hybrid amplifi-
ersby providingan inherently, dynamically protected Safe
Operating Area (SOA).
SPiKe protection means that these
parts are safeguardedat the output against overvoltage,
undervoltage, overloads, including thermal runaway andin-
stantaneous temperature peaks.
