General DescriptionThe LM101A series are general purpose operational ampli-
fiers which feature improved performance over industry stan-
dards like the LM709. Advanced processing techniques
make possiblean orderof magnitude reductionin input
currents, anda redesignofthe biasing circuitry reduces the
temperature driftof input current. Improved specifications
include: Offset voltage3 mV maximum over temperature
(LM101A/LM201A) Input current 100 nA maximum over temperature
(LM101A/LM201A) Offset current 20 nA maximum over temperature

This amplifier offers many features which makeits appli-
cation nearly foolproof: overload protectiononthe input
and output,no latch-up whenthe common mode rangeis
exceeded, and freedom from oscillations and compensa-
tion witha single30pF capacitor.It has advantages over
internally compensated amplifiersin that the frequency
compensation canbe tailoredto the particular applica-
tion. For example,in low frequency circuitsit canbe
overcompensatedfor increased stability margin.Or the
compensation canbe optimizedto give more thana
factoroften improvementin high frequency performance
for most applications. addition, the device provides better accuracy and
lower noisein high impedance circuitry. The low input
currents also makeit particularly well suitedfor long
interval integratorsor timers, sample and hold circuits
and low frequency waveform generators. Further, replac-
ing circuits where matched transistor pairs buffer the
inputsof conventionalICop amps,it can give lower offset
voltage anda driftata lower cost.
The LM101Ais guaranteed overa temperature rangeof
−55˚Cto +125˚C,the LM201A from −25˚Cto +85˚C, and
the LM301A from 0˚Cto +70˚C.
