FAN3216 / FAN3217 — Dual 2-A, High-Speed, Low-Side Gate Drivers April 2013 FAN3216 / FAN3217 Dual 2-A, High-Speed, Low-Side Gate Drivers Features Description  Industry-Standard Pinouts The FAN3216 and FAN3217 dual 2 A gate drivers are  4.5-V to 18-V Operating Range designed to drive N-channel enhancement-mode MOSFETs in low-side switching applications by  3-A Peak Sink/Source at V = 12 V DD providing high peak current pulses during the short  2.4-A Sink / 1.6-A Source at V = 6 V OUT switching intervals. They are both available with TTL  Inverting Configuration (FAN3216) and input thresholds. Internal circuitry provides an under- Non-Inverting Configuration (FAN3217) voltage lockout function by holding the output LOW until the supply voltage is within the operating range. In  Internal Resistors Turn Driver Off If No Inputs addition, the drivers feature matched internal  12-ns / 9-ns Typical Rise/Fall Times (1 nF Load) propagation delays between A and B channels for applications requiring dual gate drives with critical  20-ns Typical Propagation Delay Time Matched timing, such as synchronous rectifiers. This also within 1 ns to the Other Channel enables connecting two drivers in parallel to effectively  TTL Input Thresholds double the current capability driving a single MOSFET.  MillerDrive™ Technology The FAN3216/17 drivers incorporate MillerDrive™  Double Current Capability by Paralleling Channels architecture for the final output stage. This bipolar- MOSFET combination provides high current during the  Standard SOIC-8 Package Miller plateau stage of the MOSFET turn-on / turn-off  Rated from –40°C to +125°C Ambient process to minimize switching loss, while providing rail- to-rail voltage swing and reverse current capability.  Automotive Qualified to AEC-Q100 (F085 Versions) The FAN3216 offers two inverting drivers and the Applications FAN3217 offers two non-inverting drivers.
