General DescriptionThe DS8921, DS8921A are Differential Line Driver and Re-
ceiver pairs designed specificallyfor applications meeting
the ST506, ST412 and ESDI Disk Drive Standards.In addi-
tion, these devices meet the requirementsof the EIA Stan-
dard RS-422.
The DS8921, DS8921Areceivers offeran input sensitivityof
200 mV overa ±7V common mode operating range. Hys-
teresisis incorporated (typically70 mV)to improve noise
marginfor slowly changing input waveforms.
The DS8921, DS8921A drivers are designedto provide uni-
polar differential driveto twisted pairor parallel wire trans-
mission lines. Complementary outputs are logically ANDed
and providean output skewof0.5ns (typ.) with propagation
delaysof12ns.
The DS8921, DS8921Aare designedtobe compatible with
TTL and CMOS.
