DESCRIPTIONThe bq24300 and bq24304 are highly integrated circuits designedto provide protectionto Li-ion batteries from
failuresof the charging circuit. TheIC continuously monitors the input voltage, the input current, and the battery
voltage. The device operates likea linear regulator:for voltagesupto the Input Overvoltage threshold, the output heldat 5.5V (bq24300), 5.0V (bq24305)or 4.5V (bq24304).In caseof an input overvoltage condition,if the
overvoltage condition persists for more thana few microseconds, theIC removes power from the charging circuit turningoff an internal switch.In the caseofan overcurrent condition,it limits the currenttoa safe value fora
blanking duration before turning the switch off. Additionally, theIC also monitors own die temperature and
switchesoffifit becomes too hot.
TheIC also offers optional protection against reverse voltageat the input withan external P-channel MOSFET.
