General Description
Usinga patented multi-step A/D conversion technique,the
8-bit ADC08161 CMOS A/Dconverter offers500ns conver-
sion time, internal sample-and-hold (S/H),a 2.5V bandgap
reference, and dissipates only 100 mWof power. The
ADC08161 performsan 8-bit conversionwitha 2-bit voltage
estimatorthat generatesthe2 MSBsandtwo low-resolution
(3-bit) flashesthat generatethe6 LBSs.
Input signalsare trackedand heldbythe input sampling
circuitry, eliminatingthe needforan external sample-and-
hold. The ADC08161can perform accurate conversionsof
full-scale input signalsat frequencies fromDCto typically
more than300kHz(full power bandwidth) withoutthe needan external sample-and-hold (S/H).
For easeof interfaceto microprocessors,thisparthas been
designedto appearasa memory locationorI/Oport with-
outthe needfor external interfacing logic.
