MEASURINGSETTLINGTIME.Settlingtimeisdefinedas
thatperiodrequiredforanamplifieroutputtoswingfromvoltstofullscale,usually10voltS,andtosettletowithinspecifiedpercentageoftbefinaloutputvoltage.Forhigh
accuracysystems,theaccuracyrequirementisnormally
specifiedaseither0.1'.16(lo-bitaccuracy)or0.01'.16(12-bit
accuracy)ofthe10voltoutputlevel.Thesettlingtime
periooiscomprisedofaninitialpropagationdelay,an
additionaltimefortheamplifiertoslewtothevicinityofvolts,andafinaltimeperiodto'recoverfrominternalsaturationandothereffects,andsettlewithinthespecified
errorband.Becausesettlingtimedependsonboth.linear
andnonlinearfactors,thereisnosimpleapproachto
predictingitSfinalvaluetodifferentlevelsofaccuracy,]n
particular,extremelyhighslewratesdonotassurearapid
scnlingtime,sincethisisonlyoneofmanyfactorsaffecting
settlingtime.Inmosthighspeed.amplifiers,afterthe
amplifierhasslewedtothevicinityoftbefinaloutput
